Menorah Medical Center Volunteering
Volunteers support patients, visitors, and staff through hospitality and service roles such as greeting guests, assisting in waiting areas, and providing comfort and guidance.
Requirements: 16+, Letter of Recommendation, Background check, health Immunizations, and health training.
Advent Health Shawnee Mission Volunteering
Volunteers assist patients, visitors, and staff in both clinical and non-clinical areas. They help with tasks such as greeting guests, transporting patients, and supporting hospital departments while gaining valuable experience in a healthcare setting.
Requirements: at least one 4-hour shift a week, 2 months of onboarding.
Ronald McDonald House Charities Volunteer Program– Kansas City
This organization supports families with seriously ill children by providing free housing, meals, and resources near hospitals. The organization helps keep families together during medical treatment, easing emotional and financial stress while promoting comfort and healing.
Requirements: Background check, On-site training, and several shift times.
SOAR Special Needs Volunteer Program -
SOAR supports individuals with special needs and their families by offering programs like social clubs, summer day camps, respite events, caregiver support groups, and resources for faith communities and churches.
Requirements: Skilled (marketing/media) or Event Volunteers.
KU Health System Summer Program
Diverse volunteer opportunities across its Kansas City locations, including the main campus, cancer centers, and community hospitals. Various roles such as patient support, clerical work, and hospitality services.
Requirements: Submit an essay by March 14, and attend an in-person orientation.
St Luke’s Volunteering
Saint Luke’s Health System volunteers provide assistance to patients, visitors, and staff through hospitality and support services.
Requirements: Limited basis, orientation and training required, and health assessments.
MITES High School Program
MITES creates pathways to success with cost-free, impactful STEM experiences, empowering students from underserved backgrounds and reshaping the future of STEM professions!
Requirements: 11th grade when applying, with a due date of February 1st, 2026.
Stanford Medicine Research Program
High school students are invited to join the prestigious eight-week Stanford Institute of Medicine Summer Research Program (SIMR), pairing students with Stanford faculty and researchers to perform 8-week research!
Requirements: Applicant must currently be a junior or senior, 16+ by June 2026. Application Period Dec 19-Feb 21
Summer Science Program
Over the course of five weeks, working in teams of three, participants will dive into research with leading scientists, academics, and educators while living on a college campus.

KU Med Center Educational Experience
The KEE system offers observational and hands-on research opportunities or observational experiences in clinical environments.
Requirements: Sponsor preferred, at least 16 years old, HIPAA training required.
UMKC STAHR
Students in the Scholars Program will undergo personal and professional development as they explore and strengthen their interest in health careers.
Requirements: current sophomore or junior, free of cost, for economically or educationally challenged, min GPA.

HealthCare Internship - ProX
5-week Summer Internship Experience beginning June 1st, 2026 - July 2nd, 2026. At the completion of the summer experience, interns are rewarded with one elective school credit and a $1,500 stipend.
Requirements: 21 hours a week, applications open Jan 5 until Feb 20, current 9-12th grader.
American Red Cross Certifications
The Red Cross offers extensive training and certification courses to equip people with life-saving skills.
Requirements: payment per certification.
Courses Offered: Water Safety, CPR, First Aid, and other services.
UCLA Neuroscience Training Program
The 6-week virtual program will expose students to various neuroscience topics related to Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias.
Requirements: Rising Juniors and seniors only, Program fee: $0, virtual interviews, requires three essays, due Feb 9th, 2026.
ThinkNeuro Bibliometrics Virtual Internship
A fully remote research and certification program for ambitious high school and undergraduate students. Interns learn to conduct bibliometric analysis on topics in neuroscience, medicine, and public health using tools like R programming and Microsoft Excel.

Brown Summer PreCollege Program

Youth-led organization in the San Francisco Bay Area empowering high schoolers to research while connecting with STEM professionals primarily online and in person.

Standout Connect is a global training program where students participate in lectures and complete an internship upon program completion.

The Junior Academy is a project-based learning program where students form international teams and work with STEM experts through an online community platform.
