KC MedBridge General Officer Application
Join the 2026-27 KC MedBridge board as a General Officer! Board members play an active role in all aspects of the organization, such as social media, event planning, physician outreach, and shadowing coordination. Specialized roles will be assigned after selection based on your strengths and interests.
Requirements: Current high school student, due September 29th at 11:59pm
Menorah Medical Center Volunteering
Volunteers support patients, visitors, and staff through hospitality and service roles such as greeting guests, assisting in waiting areas, and providing comfort and guidance.
Requirements: 16+, Letter of Recommendation, Background check, health Immunizations, and health training.
Advent Health Shawnee Mission Volunteering
Volunteers assist patients, visitors, and staff in both clinical and non-clinical areas. They help with tasks such as greeting guests, transporting patients, and supporting hospital departments while gaining valuable experience in a healthcare setting.
Requirements: at least one 4-hour shift a week, 2 months of onboarding.
Ronald McDonald House Charities Volunteer Program– Kansas City
This organization supports families with seriously ill children by providing free housing, meals, and resources near hospitals. The organization helps keep families together during medical treatment, easing emotional and financial stress while promoting comfort and healing.
Requirements: Background check, On-site training, and several shift times.
SOAR Special Needs Volunteer Program -
SOAR supports individuals with special needs and their families by offering programs like social clubs, summer day camps, respite events, caregiver support groups, and resources for faith communities and churches.
Requirements: Skilled (marketing/media) or Event Volunteers.
KU Health System Summer Program
Diverse volunteer opportunities across its Kansas City locations, including the main campus, cancer centers, and community hospitals. Various roles such as patient support, clerical work, and hospitality services.

St Luke’s Volunteering
Saint Luke’s Health System volunteers provide assistance to patients, visitors, and staff through hospitality and support services.
Requirements: Limited basis, orientation and training required, and health assessments.
MITES High School Program
MITES creates pathways to success with cost-free, impactful STEM experiences, empowering students from underserved backgrounds and reshaping the future of STEM professions!
Requirements: 11th grade when applying, application opens November 2026, deadline February 1, 2027
Stanford Medicine Research Program
High school students are invited to join the prestigious eight-week Stanford Institute of Medicine Summer Research Program (SIMR), pairing students with Stanford faculty and researchers to perform 8-week research!
Requirements: Applicant must currently be a junior or senior, 16+ by June 2027. Application materials available mid-December 2026, deadline tentatively late February 2027
Summer Science Program
Over the course of five weeks, working in teams of three, participants will dive into research with leading scientists, academics, and educators while living on a college campus.
Requirements: Applicant must currently be a junior. Application opens December 2026, domestic deadline February 19, 2027
KU Med Center Educational Experience
The KEE system offers observational and hands-on research opportunities or observational experiences in clinical environments.
Requirements: Sponsor preferred, at least 16 years old, HIPAA training required.
UMKC STAHR
Students in the Scholars Program will undergo personal and professional development as they explore and strengthen their interest in health careers.
Requirements: current sophomore or junior, free of cost, for economically or educationally challenged, min GPA.

Yale Young Global Scholars (Innovations in Science and Tech)
Two-week international program at Yale. (10-15% Acceptance Rate)
Requirements: Essays, LOR, scholarships available, financial aid, application fee (free waivers available).

HealthCare Internship - ProX
5-week Summer Internship Experience beginning June 1st, 2027 - July 2nd, 2027. At the completion of the summer experience, interns are rewarded with one elective school credit and a $1,500 stipend.
Requirements: 21 hours a week, Applications open January 11, 2027, current 9-12th grader.
American Red Cross Certifications
The Red Cross offers extensive training and certification courses to equip people with life-saving skills.
Requirements: payment per certification.
Courses Offered: Water Safety, CPR, First Aid, and other services.
UCLA Neuroscience Training Program
The 6-week virtual program will expose students to various neuroscience topics related to Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias.
Requirements: Rising Juniors and seniors only, Program fee: $0, virtual interviews, requires three essays.

ThinkNeuro Bibliometrics Virtual Internship
A fully remote research and certification program for ambitious high school and undergraduate students. Interns learn to conduct bibliometric analysis on topics in neuroscience, medicine, and public health using tools like R programming and Microsoft Excel.

Brown Summer PreCollege Program
Choose from more than 230 non-credit courses that will challenge you with new perspectives on how you work, learn, and live.
Requirements: Students completing grades 9 to 12, ages 14 to 18 by June 14, 2027, online or in-person.

Teens in Health Research Program
Youth-led organization in the San Francisco Bay Area empowering high schoolers to research while connecting with STEM professionals primarily online and in person.
Requirements: Students completing grades 9 to 12, international, and availability to attend meetings.

Standout Connect Summer Program
Standout Connect is a global training program where students participate in lectures and complete an internship upon program completion.
Requirements: Students 15yrs+ by June 2027, Early Action February 22, Regular Decision April 26 (2027 dates not yet posted) $2,950 or $3,950 (Financial Assistance Available)
The Junior Academy by NYAS
The Junior Academy is a project-based learning program where students form international teams and work with STEM experts through an online community platform.
Requirements: Students must be 13-17 yrs old, online, free of cost, via Launchpad Platform

Summer Science Research Program
Participate in a research team designed and guided by scientific trainees

Georgetown Medical Research
Learn the process researchers use to formulate, conduct, and evaluate the evidence they gather
Requirements: Choose the course length that works for you: 1-week intensives, 2-week sessions, and 4-week sessions. For students ages 13 and up, and $1,895.
NIH Summer Internship Program (SIP)
One of the most prestigious government-sponsored research programs in the country. Students work alongside world-renowned scientists at the National Institutes of Health on biomedical research projects spanning genetics, immunology, neuroscience, cancer biology, and more.
Requirements: Current high school senior or undergraduate, U.S. citizen or permanent resident. Free of cost. Application opens October 13, 2026, deadline January 26, 2027.
Research Science Institute (RSI) at MIT
Considered one of the most elite high school research programs in the world. Students spend six weeks at MIT combining on-campus coursework with real faculty research. Fully funded.
Requirements: Current high school junior or senior, extremely competitive. 2027 application dates not yet posted; check back winter 2026.
Jackson Laboratory (JAX) Summer Student Program
Students conduct genetics and biomedical research at one of the world's leading research institutions. Fully funded with a stipend and transit card.
Requirements: Rising seniors, at least 16 by program start date. Applications open November 2026, deadline January 25, 2027.
Clark Scholars Program at Texas Tech
One of the most selective research programs in the country with roughly a 2% acceptance rate. Only 12 students accepted per summer for 7 weeks of one-on-one faculty research. Includes a $750 stipend and covered room and board.
Requirements: Rising seniors or recent graduates, at least 17 by program start. 2027 application dates not yet posted; check back winter 2026.
Regeneron Science Talent Search
The nation's oldest and most prestigious science and math competition for high school seniors. Top 300 scholars are recognized nationally and 40 finalists travel to Washington D.C. to compete for awards totaling over $1.8 million.
Requirements: Current high school senior, original research project required. Application open now — deadline November 5, 2026 at 8pm ET.
