KC MedBridge visits Wildwood Outdoor Learning Center

KC MedBridge founders, Laura and Salma had the amazing opportunity to visit Wildwood Outdoor Education Center! They spoke with some of their camp professionals to learn about nonprofits. They also conversed with counselors about local organizations and spent some time with campers. Thank you Wildwood for this amazing opportunity!!

KC MedBridge MedConnect Event

On February 27, 2025, KC MedBridge hosted MedConnect, a groundbreaking networking event designed to bridge the gap between high school students and healthcare professionals. Held at the Blue Valley Southwest Fixed Forum, the event brought together aspiring medical students, health clubs, and experienced physicians for an evening of insight, connection, and mentorship.

Our distinguished guest speakers, Ameen Awad and Karen Moussa, shared their journeys through the UMKC six-year BA/MD medical program, offering invaluable advice on the fast-tracked path to becoming a physician.

Thanks to the $5 entry fee, participating schools were recognized as official donors to the KC MedBridge Scholarship Fund, helping students offset the costs of higher education.

Trunk or Treat for Breast Cancer

KC MedBridge recently hosted our first event, Trunk or Treat for Breast Cancer, which welcomed over 100 attendees and raised more than $1,000. Funds were collected through various activities, including face painting, a bonfire, and trunk-or-treating. We received generous support from Yafa Café, Teriyaki Madness, Park’s Kitchen, Jerusalem Café, and Melted KC, who contributed donations for the cause.

We were also thrilled to partner with Art for Hearts, a local art school that set up a booth where children created cards for breast cancer patients. Half of the proceeds from the event will be donated to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, supporting its mission to aid patients and raise awareness.

UPDATE:

We initially planned to donate 50% of the proceeds to the National Breast Cancer Foundation but have adjusted it to 25% based on our intended contribution. The remaining funds will support KC MedBridge’s mission. We appreciate your support!
